The Onikosi of Ikosi, HRM Oba Samuel Alamu Kehinde, along with other prominent local rulers, received luxury SUVs from the Ikosi Isheri Local Council Development Area. The recipients included the Oba of Shangisha/Magodo Kingdom, HRM Oba Jamiu Lawal Aileru, and the Oni Maidan of Maidan/Mile 12, HRM Oba Idowu Olojede.
Additionally, key council officials such as the Human Resources officer, Heads of Departments, and the Clerk of the Legislative arm were also beneficiaries of the council’s third phase of car distribution.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Onikosi of Ikosi expressed his surprise and appreciation for the gesture, noting significant improvements under the administration of Samiat Bada. He highlighted that in his 17 years on the throne, he had never before received a vehicle from the local government.
This initiative follows a previous distribution phase that included various community leaders such as the Christian Association of Nigeria and the League of Imams.
While many residents welcomed the gesture, considering it long overdue, others criticized the timing, suggesting it might be a strategic move to curry favor with the monarchs ahead of the 2025 local government elections.
