Onikosi of Ikosi Celebrates 17th Coronation Anniversary with Chieftaincy Titles

The 17th Coronation Anniversary of Oba Alamu Oloyede Kehinde, the Onikosi of Ikosi in Kosofe Land, Lagos State, was marked with grandeur on Saturday as prominent personalities were honored with chieftaincy titles. The celebration, filled with cultural displays and festivities, saw the conferment of significant titles that reflect the honorees’ contributions to society.

Among the newly titled was Omoba Adeyinka Oyediran, a politician and businessman from Ijebu Igbo, who was named Olori Omoba of Kosofe Land. The event, characterized by pomp and pageantry, drew notable figures and stakeholders from Kosofe and beyond.

According to KosofePost findings, the title Olori Omo Oba is traditionally given in Ijebuland to a prominent individual known for their wealth, influence, and ability to attract goodwill for the development of Ijebu-Ode and Ijebuland. The selection of Oyediran, despite his roots in Ijebu Igbo, underscores his significant impact and the potential benefits his leadership could bring to Kosofe Land. However, the specific connection between the Ijebu Igbo-born businessman and the Awori people of Kosofe remains a topic of interest.
