Relief and gratitude filled the air as residents of Kosofe, including nonagenarian Sir Tony Asije, applauded the recent commissioning of several road projects by Executive Chairman Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe. The administration’s efforts have significantly improved infrastructure in the area, earning widespread praise.
Sir Tony Asije, a retired police officer and Patron of Ojudu Garden Valley, expressed profound gratitude for the construction of Fedrick Ezenwezu Road and its accompanying drainage systems, a project that remedied over 40 years of neglect. Asije commended Ogunlewe, stating, “He is the first chairman who will remember us in this area and he has decided to come to our aid.”
Reflecting on his long history in the community, Asije added, “When I look back, over 40 years ago when I settled in this area, and looking at the environment today, I feel very happy that I am still alive to be part of history. For this, we will continue to be grateful to the chairman.”
Asije also recounted his experiences battling crime and dealing with the deplorable state of the roads, highlighting the drastic improvements made under Ogunlewe’s administration. “This particular road you are seeing here today, if you put a pole inside it, it would swallow it. But we started filling it with all sorts of rubbish until it became motorable.”
Alhaji Kehinde Bello, APC Chairman in Kosofe LGA, echoed the community’s sentiments, praising Ogunlewe’s accomplishments over the past three years. “Since the establishment of Kosofe Local Government, this is the first time we are enjoying the dividends of democracy under the leadership of Moyosore Ogunlewe. I am happy about his work and he has promised to do more for the people of the area, so because of his performance, his second term is well assured.”
Bello highlighted Ogunlewe’s achievements, including the construction of 36 roads, installation of transformers, drilling of boreholes, and building of hospitals. “Under three years, he has performed well and a blind man can even see all these achievements.”
In response to the praise, Ogunlewe vowed to continue improving the community’s infrastructure, promising to fix the remaining roads before the end of his tenure.
The six newly commissioned roads include Niyi Ogunlewe Street in Ojota Palace and Fedrick Ezenwezu Road in Ojudu, with residents hopeful for more developments under Ogunlewe’s proactive leadership.
