Over 1,200 local farmers across the Lagos East Senatorial District have benefited from the Federal Government’s fertilizer distribution program aimed at boosting food production and addressing rising food costs. This initiative is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on Food Security.

At the distribution exercise held in Ikorodu, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, represented by former Lagos State House of Assembly member Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, praised the program’s potential to combat hunger and ease economic hardship. He highlighted that the effort complements additional support Senator Abiru has provided to farmers, including the distribution of fertilizers, seedlings, herbicides, and livestock farming inputs to over 400 farmers.

Dr. Hakeem Adetugbobo, the coordinator of agricultural empowerment for Senator Abiru, expressed confidence in the administration’s interventions, stating that the measures will significantly improve food security across the nation.

Waheed Olaide Kareem, a beneficiary from Lekki LCDA, and Mrs. Folake Olaide from the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Eredo LCDA, were among those who lauded the government’s support, noting the positive impact on their farming businesses.

The event drew numerous stakeholders from the agricultural and political sectors, further underscoring the program’s importance in uplifting local farming communities.
