A concerned resident of Kosofe, Lagos State, Oloye Oluwaseun Salami, has condemned the recent increase in boarding school fees by the Lagos State government, calling it an act of incompetence and insensitivity.
In a conversation with KosofePost on Saturday, Salami expressed frustration over the timing and the impact on parents who had already made payments. “How can you increase boarding fees when many parents had already made payments? You had almost two months to announce this,” he stated.
Salami criticized the Lagos State Commissioner for Basic Education, labeling the move as a demonstration of incompetence and laziness. He further compared the situation to federal unity schools, where, according to him, such announcements would have been made before the end of the previous term, avoiding any last-minute surprises.
Describing the fee hike as “abnormal and provocative,” Salami urged the governor to reverse the decision, which he believes exacerbates the financial burdens citizens are already grappling with under the current economic policies. “The Commissioner for Basic Education has displayed gross incompetence and vexatious ineptitude with these midnight increments,” he concluded.
