In celebration of World Teacher’s Day, the publisher of KosofePost (KP), Abayomi Bilesanmi KOKO, joined the global community in recognizing the pivotal role of educators. To mark the occasion, KP gifted cash tokens to various stakeholders in the education sector, offering a heartfelt gesture of appreciation.

During the event, Bilesanmi called on state governors and local government chairmen, particularly those with ties to the United Kingdom, to emulate international education policies and improve funding.

He emphasized the need for quality education, noting that decades of neglect and a lack of accountability from the government have led to a surge in private schools, leaving many poor families struggling to send their children to school.

Bilesanmi advocated for several reforms, including enhanced teacher training and retention, improved learning environments, better welfare packages for teachers, and the establishment of an automated monitoring system for school evaluations.

He also suggested providing students with quality meals, daily tokens, and writing materials, as well as sanctions for parents who encourage absenteeism. According to him, these steps could help reduce the growing number of out-of-school children in Nigeria.

Several beneficiaries of the KP cash tokens expressed their gratitude. Bima Abdullahi Mohammed, a special education teacher for the deaf, acknowledged the surprise gift, saying, “Thank you very much. God Almighty bless and reward you for remembering a teacher. You are honored for rewarding the nation builders.”

Comrade Olawale Michael, Principal Tutor of Promise Keeper Tutorial Centre, also shared his appreciation, stating, “God bless you, sir. As you appreciate teachers today, your children and future generations will continue to benefit positively from teachers.”

Educators from both public and private institutions echoed their thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the unexpected gesture.
