In Kosofe Federal Constituency, Lagos, a brewing controversy has emerged over the monthly payments received by the All Progressives Congress (APC) apex leaders from local governments within their area. While several leaders enjoy undisclosed amounts from their respective local governments and council development areas, the recent exposure of one leader’s payment has caused an uproar.
Ademola Salami, the apex leader of APC in Ikosi-Isheri, became the center of attention when supporters of Princess Samiat Bada, the Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), revealed that Salami had been receiving N200,000 monthly for the past three years and was also gifted a Toyota Highlander by Bada.
Salami, reacting to the report in a video clip, refuted claims that his relationship with Bada was cordial. He accused her of failing to attend his birthday party and not paying his full September allowance. “I only go to the Local Government to get my salary of N200,000,” Salami said, emphasizing that Bada’s camp should not take credit for gestures facilitated by Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, the lawmaker representing Kosofe Federal Constituency.

The revelation has sparked debates within the constituency, with some clarifying that the monthly payments are part of a dedicated package designed to honor elderly statesmen for their service and to ensure their well-being. However, others have called on Bada’s supporters to stop sensationalizing the initiative, urging them to respect the program’s intent without unnecessary noise.
