Small Giant Nigeria has brought relief to 50 vulnerable widows in Mende Community with donations of 10kg bags of rice and other essential items worth ₦900,000. The initiative, led by Team Integrity, the local advertising territorial manager of Small Giant, aims to ease the harsh impact of rising hunger and poverty in Nigeria.
Mr. Adewale Adenuga, Team Leader of Small Giant, highlighted that the gesture is a response to the country’s increasing poverty levels. He explained that the programme seeks to provide temporary relief for widows, especially those over the age of 60 and those unable to support their families.
“Today’s event is specifically designed for widows. We gave each of the 50 widows a 10kg bag of rice as a form of palliative. We know how tough things are, and this is our way of ensuring they aren’t left out in this difficult time,” Adenuga said.
Founded in 2019 by Al Ramich and Chris Williams, Small Giant has become a global leader in brand engagement and community support. The organisation, which began as a UK-based charity, now focuses on aiding the less-privileged, including widows and out-of-school children.
In the coming months, Small Giant plans to collaborate with government agencies and corporate bodies to expand their outreach, offering jobs and sustainable support to widows and others in need.
One beneficiary, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Bakare, an 80-year-old widow from Oworonsoki, expressed her gratitude, saying, “This is my first time benefiting from this programme, and it comes at a very difficult time for us widows. I will be sure to share this opportunity with others in my community.”
