The SAIL Innovation Lab, a premier innovation hub in Lagos, has teamed up with the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) to launch an extensive tech training and development program. The collaboration kicked off with a five-day tech boot camp and summit, “Dare to Dream,” held at LASUSTECH’s Ikorodu campus, targeting students from the College of Engineering and Technology.
The SAIL Innovation Lab, spearheaded by Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, and his wife, Mrs. Feyisola Abiru, aims to provide young Nigerians with the critical skills needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
Since its inception, SAIL has empowered over 10,000 participants through free training in cutting-edge fields such as generative AI, software and blockchain development, data science, STEM education, and advanced digital marketing.
Addressing a crowd of nearly 1,000 students, Senator Abiru underscored the pivotal role of technology in reshaping the global economy, describing young Nigerians as “the next generation of leaders, innovators, and creators.”
He noted that digital innovation is the bedrock of future careers and economic advancement, stressing that the partnership with LASUSTECH is designed to equip students with the skills to compete in high-demand areas like artificial intelligence, robotics, blockchain, and big data.
“This is where my vision for the SAIL Innovation Lab comes in,” Abiru said. “Through this Lab, we aim to create a world-class innovation space that fosters real-world learning, creativity, and collaboration. Our focus remains on technologies that are shaping the future of industries and economies alike.”
To further incentivize learning, Senator Abiru pledged high-end laptops to five outstanding participants of the boot camp, reinforcing his commitment to advancing tech education and digital innovation in Nigeria.
The partnership between SAIL and LASUSTECH sets a precedent for private-public collaborations aimed at building a tech-savvy workforce ready to tackle both local and global challenges.
