The 2024 Annual Inter-House Sports Competition at Expressway Nursery & Primary School II, Ikosi-Ketu, provided a vibrant platform for nurturing grassroots sports talent. The event, sponsored by Hon. Prince Bidemi Akintunde-Stainless, highlighted the importance of early talent discovery for national sports development.
Represented by his brother, Mr. Olusegun Akintunde, the Patron underscored the value of catching them young. “This competition is a step in the right direction. It addresses a major gap in Nigerian sports, where grassroots talent often goes unnoticed,” he said. He urged the Ministry of Sports to prioritize talent discovery in schools to bolster the nation’s athletic potential.

The school’s Head Teacher, Mrs. Adetutu Taiwo, echoed this sentiment in her welcome address. She emphasized the competition’s role in identifying promising talents and nurturing them for future greatness. “The pupils have shown potential that will amaze us all in the years to come. Even those who do not win today can achieve success in the future,” Taiwo encouraged.
Taiwo also called on guests to support the improvement of the school’s sports facilities and commended sponsors, parents, and donors for their contributions to the event’s success.
