It was a day of encomiums, joy, and reflection as party chieftains, family, friends, and well-wishers gathered at Funflex Resort, CMD Road, Magodo, to honor the 50th birthday of prominent businessman and politician, Chief Kayode Olaegbe. The exclusive celebration, held on Saturday, January 18, also marked a joint celebration with his childhood friend, Chief Solomon Williams.
Chief Olaegbe, reflecting on his milestone, expressed deep gratitude to God for sparing his life and enabling him to reach the Golden Jubilee. “In life, turning 50 is a significant milestone. It is a time to celebrate God because many of my mates are no longer here. I thank God for life and pray for more blessings to continue assisting others,” he said.
Olaegbe, known for his philanthropy and gentle demeanor, added, “Helping others gives me joy. I pray for more open doors so I can continue to support people and live a meaningful life.”
Chief Solomon Williams, his co-celebrant, shared emotional memories of their enduring friendship, spanning from their childhood days of playing games like “ten-ten” to attending the same primary and secondary schools. “We are not just celebrating birthdays but a lifetime of friendship. I pray for more joyful years ahead for both of us,” he said.
Mrs. Semiat Bada, Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA and Chair of the occasion, commended the celebrants for their achievements and resilience. “Turning 50 is a journey worth celebrating. My prayers for them are continued success, strength, and grace to overcome challenges ahead,” she noted.
In a heartfelt tribute, Mr. Olamilekan Ibrahim, Vice President of Egbe Omo Oduduwa in France, described Olaegbe as a “perfect gentleman and wonderful philanthropist” and prayed for his continued good health and prosperity.
The event was graced by dignitaries including Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye, a prominent APC chieftain and former member of the Kosofe Federal House of Representatives, friends from the UK and France, Nollywood stars like Latin and Opebe, and other notable personalities.
