Hon. Moshood Fashanu, Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has officially declared his candidacy for the forthcoming councilorship election in Ward D.

Fashanu confirmed his intention in an exclusive interview with KosofePost on Wednesday, stating that he had consulted extensively with political stakeholders before making his ambition public.

“I have followed the laid-down political consultation procedures with key stakeholders before making my decision known,” he said.

Fashanu seeks to succeed the current Ward D Councilor, Hon. Saheed Omogbolahan Elewedu, who also serves as the Majority Leader of the Agboyi-Ketu LCDA Legislative Arm and is among the leading aspirants for the LCDA chairmanship seat.

With nearly eight years of experience as Personal Assistant and later Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Fashanu believes he is well-prepared to provide quality representation. He pledged to advocate for the interests of his constituents if entrusted with the party ticket and elected to office.

Meanwhile, the tenure of the current chairmen and councilors across Lagos’ 20 Local Governments and 37 LCDAs is set to expire on July 25, 2025. However, the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has yet to release official guidelines or a fixed date for the elections. Political parties and aspirants are awaiting the commission’s notification to begin full preparations.
