Personal Assistant to the Honourable Commissioner for Waterfront and Infrastructure Development and a current cabinet member of Kosofe Local Government, Abayomi Elugbindin is among the leading contenders for the councilor seat of Ward B, Kosofe.

Elugbindin, who previously contested but failed to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket in 2017 and 2021 against the incumbent, Kehinde Saliu, is making another bid as Saliu completes his second and final term in office. He joins a field of eight aspirants vying for councilor and chairman positions in the July 2025 local government elections in Lagos.

His contributions to the development of Oworonshoki remain a subject of debate, but political analysts suggest that APC’s doctrine of necessity—prioritizing party supremacy—could work in his favor. His close ties to APC Apex Leader, Otunba Bushira Alebiosu, and the Commissioner for Waterfront and Infrastructure Development, Hon. Yaccoub Ekundayo Alebiosu, may give him a strategic advantage.

However, his chances could also be influenced by his relationship with the Oloworo of Oworonshoki Kingdom, HRM Babatunde Salisu, Elebo II, a key stakeholder in the community. The monarch’s stance is expected to play a crucial role in determining the preferred candidate for the ward.

As the race heats up, all eyes are on APC’s internal decisions and the influence of political and traditional power blocs in shaping the contest.
