The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Environment & Water Resources, is partnering with Hepzibarian Women Initiatives to advocate against the use of styrofoam and single-use plastics in other to create environmental sustainability
The initiative, themed “Flag-Off on Ban of Styrofoam and Single-Use Plastics Advocacy and Sensitization,” is scheduled to take place at Adeyemi Bero Hall, Alausa, Ikeja, on February 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will serve as the Chief Host and Discussant, alongside key government officials and stakeholders, including: Hon. Balarabe Musa Lawal, Honourable Minister, Federal Ministry of Environment; Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources; Mr. Akin Abayomi, Honourable Commissioner for Health Director General, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN); Amb. Chief Mrs. Afolasade Tinubu Ojo, Iyaloja General of Nigeria.
The initiative aims to educate Lagos residents on the environmental hazards posed by styrofoam and single-use plastics, encouraging a shift toward eco-friendly alternatives.
The Lagos State Government has intensified its efforts in tackling plastic pollution, with recent enforcement measures against styrofoam usage in major markets. This event is expected to strengthen public awareness and foster collaboration between the government, manufacturers, and traders to ensure compliance.
