The President of the Afenifere National Youths Council, Prince Eniola Ojajuni, has regained his freedom after paying a ransom of ₦22.5 million to his abductors.
Ojajuni was kidnapped while traveling from Ondo State to Abuja, with the attack occurring between Ondo and Kabba. Gunmen ambushed his vehicle, shooting him in the buttock before taking him captive. The assailants initially demanded a ransom of ₦100 million before negotiations led to a reduced sum.
After days in captivity, Ojajuni was released around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. His abduction adds to the growing concerns over insecurity on Nigerian highways, particularly along routes notorious for kidnapping incidents.
Authorities have yet to confirm whether any arrests have been made, but the incident underscores the persistent security challenges facing travelers in the country.
