The race for the chairmanship seat of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA) is heating up, with no fewer than nine aspirants officially declaring their intention to contest. As political consultations intensify, the battle for leadership in the Kosofe Local Government-affiliated council is shaping into a high-stakes contest.

Among the leading contenders are Prince Bidemi Akintunde, Toyin Balogun, Adetunji Adebajo, and Seyi Odufowokan, all pledging to drive sustainable development and community transformation. Their campaigns emphasize economic growth, empowerment, and impactful governance for Ikosi-Isheri residents.

However, the incumbent chairperson, Samiat Bada, insists that there is no vacancy in the seat. Backed by key figures in the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) and a loyal support base, Bada’s stance adds a layer of complexity to the contest, raising questions about the election’s trajectory.

Despite her position, preparations for the elections continue. The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has yet to announce an official date for the Chairmanship and Councilorship elections across the state’s 20 Local Governments and 37 LCDAs.

As aspirants ramp up grassroots mobilization and seek endorsements at state and national levels, all eyes remain on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket—a crucial determinant in who will ultimately lead Ikosi-Isheri LCDA.

With political tension mounting, the coming weeks promise intense maneuvering and strategic alliances as the aspirants fight to secure their place at the helm of the council.
