Deaf Leader Advocates Inclusive Education at British Council Training in Lagos

A renowned Deaf leader from Kosofe, Engr. Bima Abdullahi Mohammed, was among the key participants at the just-concluded Inclusive Pedagogy Training organized by the British Council, Nigeria.

The training, which aimed to enhance teaching strategies for inclusive education, took place from March 12–14, 2025, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The training focused on equipping educators with skills to create inclusive learning environments, improve classroom management, and effectively integrate technology into teaching.

It also emphasized strategies for supporting students with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Engr. Abdullahi, who delivered a presentation on inclusive education for children with disabilities, shared his experiences as a Deaf leader while actively engaging with participants.

He described the training as “superb,” highlighting the opportunity to learn, unlearn, and relearn innovative approaches to inclusive pedagogy.

The British Council’s initiative is seen as a significant step toward promoting accessibility and equal learning opportunities for all children, especially those with disabilities.

It also reinforces the importance of continuous professional development for educators to foster an inclusive education system in Nigeria.
