Kosofe Local Government Chairman, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, has commissioned newly constructed roads within the council despite being under investigation for alleged corruption.
The controversy erupted following a petition filed by a cabinet member, Ganiu Oyebanjo, to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). The petition accuses Ogunlewe of mismanaging millions of naira in public funds. The situation escalated after leaked classified documents surfaced, further raising concerns about the chairman’s financial dealings.
While Ogunlewe has remained silent on the allegations, he proceeded to inaugurate key road projects, including Lateef Dosumu Street and Ilawe Street in Ifako, as well as Musa Adewokun Street in Ojota. However, the cost of these projects, like many others under his administration, remains undisclosed.
Residents have expressed dissatisfaction with the chairman’s lack of transparency, questioning the utilization of increased federal allocations and internally generated revenue during his nearly four-year tenure.
The development has intensified public scrutiny of Ogunlewe’s leadership, with critics raising doubts about the accountability and proper management of public funds in Kosofe Local Government.
