Honourable Olusegun Olulade, popularly known as Eleniyan, has officially renounced the honorary chieftaincy title of ‘Oluomo of Ejinrin Kingdom’, citing concerns over the leadership style of His Royal Majesty, Oba Rafiu Ishola Balogun, the Elejinrin of Ejinrin Kingdom.
In an open letter addressed to the monarch, Olulade explained that his decision stemmed from growing dissatisfaction with the kingdom’s leadership, particularly its approach to governance and the management of natural resources. He alleged that self-serving interests had taken precedence over the welfare of the people.
“I can no longer be associated with a title that does not reflect my commitment to integrity, justice, and the protection of the people’s interests,” Olulade stated in his letter.
His decision is expected to generate significant reactions across the Ejinrin Kingdom and beyond, given his influence in the Epe Division of Lagos State. Olulade, a respected political figure and community advocate, has built a reputation for championing justice and public service.
While acknowledging that his resignation from the chieftaincy title might come as a surprise to some of his supporters, Olulade emphasized that his dedication to honor, justice, and the collective good of the people would always take precedence over any honorary recognition.
Despite stepping away from the title, he reassured the people of Ejinrin Kingdom of his continued commitment to their welfare and progress. He further reaffirmed his loyalty to the people of Ejinrin, Epe, Lagos State, and Nigeria as a whole, maintaining that his service and integrity remain unshaken.
Olulade’s decision has sparked discussions about the state of leadership within the kingdom, raising questions about governance, accountability, and the values upheld by traditional institutions in the region.
