Political discontent is brewing in Kosofe as stakeholders express concerns over the leadership style of Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, the constituency’s representative in the House of Representatives. Critics argue that her focus on national recognition has come at the expense of grassroots engagement, leading to dissatisfaction among local political figures and party members.

Engr. Olusola Emmanuel Adedayo, publisher of MOSCHINOBLOG, noted that Ogbara’s emphasis on national politics has left her local base feeling neglected. He observed that over the past year, her direct impact on the Kosofe community has been minimal. However, he acknowledged her ongoing power tussle with established political leaders, which he suggested could reshape the area’s political dynamics.

Similarly, political commentator Biodun A. questioned why a representative would prioritize federal connections over grassroots support. He pointed out that while other politicians, such as Senator Abiru, have maintained relationships with various stakeholders, Ogbara’s approach appears to have alienated even members of her own party.

The concerns come amid a historical pattern of division among Kosofe representatives. Figures such as Hon. Dotun Animashaun, Hon. Ekundayo Alebiosu, and Hon. Agunsoye also faced internal political struggles during their tenures. According to Omooba Awofeso Rasheed Ololade, this recurring trend of sectional favoritism and leadership battles has hindered progress in Kosofe, in contrast to Ikorodu, where Hon. Jimi Benson has been credited with transformative projects.

As political tensions escalate, observers are keen to see whether Ogbara will adjust her strategy to strengthen local engagement or continue on her current path.
