A large contingent of the Lagos State Taskforce and the Nigeria Police has arrived in the Coker Oworonshoki community, raising concerns among residents about a potential resumption of building demolitions in the area.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that demolition activities have already commenced, with structures in Mosafejo Idiaraba CDA, Precious Seed CDA, Ogo-Oluwa, Oke-Eri, and nearby streets reportedly affected. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant as the task force continues operations in the neighborhood.
Seun Gbogboade, an eyewitness, confirmed the presence of law enforcement officials on Saturday, noting that heavy security deployment accompanied the demolition team. A video circulating online also shows a significant number of police officers and task force personnel in the community.
Concerned residents are calling on relevant authorities to intervene and provide clarity on the exercise, fearing a repeat of the large-scale demolitions that took place in July last year.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from the Lagos State government or the task force regarding the latest operation.
