Through his legal representatives at Lords & Temple, Mustapha has issued a formal demand to Mr. Ashroff Oyebanjo, citing a post made under the username “CASSANDRA” on March 12, 2025. The post, which has since been widely shared across online news blogs and social media platforms, accused Mustapha of financial misconduct, alleging he benefited from misappropriated funds from Kosofe Local Government.
The controversial post stated: “Abi o. Contractor isonu. I hear that Moyo even bought ₦17m car for him for being a brilliant attack dog. Also for Ibro and his wife. Depleting Kosofe LGA’s treasury without any sincerity of purpose.”
Mustapha’s legal team has described the allegations as “spurious, unfounded, and malicious,” arguing that they were designed to damage his reputation and political standing. His solicitors maintain that his vehicle was legally acquired through personal business ventures and not through any government funds.
The legal notice demands that Oyebanjo provide concrete evidence to support his claims or face legal consequences. Mustapha is also seeking a retraction and a public apology to be published in two major newspapers and on multiple online platforms within 14 days.
Additionally, the APC chieftain is demanding ₦100 million in damages for the alleged defamation. His lawyers have warned that failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe will lead to legal proceedings for exemplary damages over injurious falsehood and malicious publication.
As of press time, Oyebanjo has not publicly responded to the legal notice. The case has sparked discussions within Lagos political circles, with observers awaiting further developments in what could become a high-profile defamation lawsuit.
