A prominent Lagos politician, Oloye Salami Oluwaseun, has initiated legal proceedings against one Mr. Ganiyu Oyebanjo over allegedly defamatory statements made in a widely circulated publication.
Through his legal representatives, Lords & Temple, Oluwaseun is demanding a retraction, a public apology in two national newspapers and multiple online platforms, as well as ₦100 million in damages. The dispute centers on a publication titled Operation Time Pass, which was shared on the Kosofe Headline forum and further disseminated across various news blogs, social media platforms, and television stations in July 2024.
According to the legal notice, the publication described Oluwaseun as a “community nuisance” and a “drunk,” among other derogatory terms. His legal team has strongly denied these claims, describing them as “false, malicious, and politically motivated” with the intent of damaging his reputation and political standing.

Oluwaseun, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kosofe Local Government, is well known for his political influence and business ventures. His lawyers insist that the publication was aimed at tarnishing his public image.
The legal notice grants Oyebanjo 14 days to comply with the retraction and apology demands. Failure to do so, the letter warns, will lead to a lawsuit seeking exemplary damages for what they describe as an “injurious falsehood.”
As of the time of this report, Oyebanjo has not publicly responded to the allegations.
