A founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kosofe, Mr. Segun Aromokunola, has publicly criticized the party’s local leadership for what he described as a deviation from its founding principles, following the nomination of political newcomers to key positions.
Reacting to an earlier report titled “Kosofe APC Leaders Remain Mum as Tensions Escalate,” Aromokunola expressed dismay over the rise of figures such as Hon. Kafilat Ogbara and Moyo Ogunlewe, whom he described as “newcomers” allegedly imposed at the expense of loyal party members.
“The APC leadership in Kosofe must go back to the drawing board to fix the problems caused by some of them,” he said. “The nomination of Kafilat Ogbara, a newcomer in the APC, came as a shock to many of us who have been there since the beginning. It now feels like PDP has taken over Kosofe.”
Aromokunola accused certain APC leaders in the area of marginalizing long-standing members in favour of recent defectors, arguing that the trend threatens the unity and integrity of the party. “Those who have stayed loyal to APC from the start are now suffering, while political positions are handed to new entrants on a platter of gold,” he lamented.
He also warned of potential long-term consequences if the grievances of founding members continue to be ignored. “The lesson here is that selling out for short-term political gains can come with serious repercussions in the future,” he said.
Calling on party elders to intervene, Aromokunola urged the leadership to address the festering discontent. “There’s no point hiding behind a finger. The leaders must act before it’s too late.”
As discontent continues to grow within Kosofe APC, the party’s local leadership is yet to issue an official response to the concerns raised. Political observers are watching closely to see how the situation unfolds ahead of future elections.
