A founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kosofe, Ariyo Oluwafemi Bobby, has come to the defence of Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, dismissing claims that she is a political newcomer within the party and constituency.
Ariyo, a chairmanship aspirant in Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), described the allegations as misleading and unfair, insisting that Hon. Ogbara’s political career spans several decades and is rooted in commitment to the APC’s progressive values.
In a strongly worded statement, he said, “Labeling her a newcomer undermines not only her contributions but also the intelligence of party faithful who have witnessed her political journey over the years.”
He credited Ogbara’s grassroots mobilisation and dedication for her emergence as the Member of the House of Representatives representing Kosofe Federal Constituency.
Ariyo urged party stakeholders to focus on unity and competence rather than divisive narratives, warning against what he called misrepresentations aimed at discrediting credible leaders.
His remarks come amid internal tensions within the Kosofe APC over nominations, with some founding members accusing the leadership of favouring new entrants into the political scene. Ariyo’s intervention seeks to reaffirm Ogbara’s long-standing presence and influence in the party, calling for merit-based decision-making in political appointments.
