The recent declaration by Rosemary Olayemi, popularly known as “Larosh,” to contest for the councillorship seat in Ward C of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has stirred varied reactions from stakeholders, residents, and political commentators.

The announcement, which some described as “long overdue,” has drawn commendation from allies who highlighted her calm disposition, philanthropy, and contributions to community development.

“She has the quality to represent her ward at the local government level,” said Ebenezer Olatunji, Director at the Directorate of Special People, NYCN. “Very calm woman, always ready to listen—a philanthropist. I wish her the best of God in the upcoming election.”

Echoing similar sentiments, Engr. Olusola Emmanuel Adedayo, Publisher and CEO of MoschinoBlog, praised her community experience but sounded a note of caution. “She’s free to vie for the position. I’m just hoping that her political leaning with the Mayoress won’t mar her ambition. Wishing her all the best,” he said.

Omoba Awofeso Rasheed, a grassroots mobilizer, was more confident in her chances, describing her as “Omo oludasile” and predicting a “very bright” path to victory.

Yet, Larosh’s candidacy has not been without controversy. Her declaration reignited debates around media impartiality and political affiliations, especially in relation to Kosofe Post, a community-focused platform. In response to accusations of bias, Kosofe Post reaffirmed its editorial independence.

“Constitutionally, everyone has the right to vote and be voted for,” the outlet stated. “Kosofe Post is not an extension of any individual, group, or family. Please keep sentiments and emotions out of this.”

Clarifying its relationship with Larosh, Kosofe Post noted that their paths first crossed in 2018 and again during the 2021 local government elections. “Despite modest resources, her empathy and gesture [₦5,000 for data] stood out,” the outlet recalled, portraying her as thoughtful and community-oriented.

However, the media platform acknowledged that the relationship later grew strained, reportedly due to political pressures and loyalty battles involving the incumbent council chairman.

As the 2025 local government elections approach, Larosh’s entry into the race is expected to further shape the political landscape in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, with observers watching closely to see how her candidacy unfolds amid competing loyalties and rising expectations.
