Diaspora Delegation Visits New Alaafin of Oyo, Pledges Continued Support

Sons and daughters of Oyo in the diaspora have paid a congratulatory visit to the newly crowned Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, at his royal residence in Oyo.

The high-powered delegation was led by the Chairperson of the Diaspora Committee on the Alaafin’s Coronation, Mrs. Bilikisu Savage, alongside Vice Chairman Dr. Ademola Adeleke. The visit was aimed at celebrating the monarch’s ascension and reaffirming the diaspora’s commitment to preserving the heritage and unity of the Oyo people.

Among those present were prominent royal figures from various parts of the world, including Prince Lashley Oladigbolu from the United Kingdom and Prince Aderemi Paul from Portugal. Also in attendance were representatives of the Oyotunji Royal Family and chiefs from the United States, such as Baba and Yeye Onasokun Baba Oba.

While receiving the visitors, Oba Owoade expressed heartfelt gratitude for the diaspora’s contributions towards the successful coronation ceremony. He commended their unity and dedication to cultural preservation.

“I appreciate your teamwork and the invaluable role you played in ensuring the success of the coronation,” the monarch said. “May you all continue to prosper in your endeavors.”

The historic visit ended with the royal father’s blessings, underscoring the continued bond between the Oyo homeland and its global descendants.
