Kamaldeen Iyanda Abdulsalam, a seasoned media strategist and grassroots development advocate, has declared his intention to run for councillor representing Ward B in Ifelodun Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State.
Abdulsalam, popularly known as “Home Boy,” is campaigning under the Home Boy 2025 banner, promising a leadership style anchored on community engagement, transparency, and effective service delivery.
A native of Ajegunle, Apapa, born in the mid-1980s and raised along Ojo Road, Abdulsalam brings over 20 years of experience in both private enterprise and public service. He is an alumnus of Sari Iganmu Secondary School and is currently pursuing a degree at the University of Lagos.
He began his professional journey in automobile sales before moving into project management at his family’s civil engineering firm, J.A. Abdulsalami and Sons Nigeria Limited.
Abdulsalam’s political career took off in 2003 when he joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), serving as a delegate and ward youth leader. In 2015, he was appointed Personal Assistant to Hon. Famakinwa Adedayo Olufemi of the Lagos State House of Assembly. Two years later, he crossed over to the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he played a key role as a delegate in the 2023 party primaries for senatorial, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly candidates.
He currently serves as the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA, Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, and also chairs the Conference 57 Chief Press Secretaries, a coalition of media aides to council chairmen across Lagos.
Abdulsalam’s candidacy is expected to stir conversations around youth inclusion, local development, and media-savvy governance in Lagos grassroots politics.
