As the July 12 local government elections draw near, Ibidapo Fashola has thrown her weight behind the candidacy of her mother, Honourable Rosemary Olayemi Oshoffa, highlighting the potential impact her leadership could bring to the Ikosi-Isheri community.
Speaking to Kosofe Post shortly after Oshoffa’s graduation from the National Open University (NOUN) on Saturday, Fashola praised her mother’s decision to contest for the position of Councillor under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). She said Oshoffa’s new academic qualification in Peace and Conflict Resolution is a strong asset for governance at the grassroots level.
“My mother’s decision to contest for the Councillor position can bring about numerous benefits,” Fashola said. “Her leadership can pave the way for a more inclusive and supportive community.”
According to her, Oshoffa is well-positioned to:
Promote peace, tolerance, and mutual understanding in the ward;
Empower residents by fostering self-reliance and informed decision-making;
Tackle critical issues such as mental health and social welfare;
Inspire youth and women to participate actively in politics;
Apply evidence-based approaches to community development;
Strengthen trust and accountability in local governance;
Facilitate life skills and personal growth among constituents.
Oshoffa’s campaign, expected to centre on peacebuilding and grassroots empowerment, draws from her educational background and longstanding dedication to public service.
