The Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area in Lagos State came alive recently as community leaders, political figures, and residents gathered for the official launch of the WE-LIFT empowerment programme, an initiative spearheaded by the Council Chairman, Mayor Dele Oshinowo.

Speaking at the event, Oshinowo expressed appreciation for the support of residents, pledging to always prioritize community welfare above personal interests. He announced that the programme will benefit 1,500 residents—including market women, the elderly, and unemployed youths—each of whom will receive a cash grant of fifty thousand naira, amounting to a total disbursement of N75 million.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to education, the Chairman also disclosed plans to complete a state-of-the-art school in Agboyi. According to him, the project will set new standards for educational infrastructure within the Kosofe Local Government Area.

“As leaders, we must ensure that the interests of Agboyi-Ketu remain our top priority,” Oshinowo said, addressing both current and aspiring public officials.

Representing IBTC Bank, Temitope Adeoya advised beneficiaries to manage their finances wisely. She emphasized the importance of saving, living within one’s means, and building financial literacy as tools for long-term economic stability.

Also in attendance was Senator Tokunbo Abiru, who commended Chairman Oshinowo’s leadership and impact. “Mayor Oshinowo has made Agboyi-Ketu a reference point for effective local governance in Nigeria,” he said, while announcing a personal donation of ten million naira to support the empowerment initiative.

The event drew a host of dignitaries, including the Iyaloja of Agboyi-Ketu, Alhaja Obanibashiri; the Olu of Agboyi Land, Oba Monsuru Abimbola Oladega; as well as representatives from the private and public sectors.

The WE-LIFT programme highlights the council’s ongoing commitment to grassroots development and economic empowerment within Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
