Residents and local observers are raising concerns over increasing congestion and unregulated street trading at the Ikorodu Roundabout, fearing that the situation could pose serious risks if not addressed.

On Thursday, April 17, Rasheed Adedeji Fatuga, a community advocate and local leader, captured images of the bustling roundabout at 6:16 p.m. The photographs highlight the overwhelming presence of street vendors and pedestrians, with many spilling onto the roads, obstructing the flow of traffic.

Fatuga described the situation as “developing and problematic,” stressing the urgent need for intervention. He warned that continued neglect could lead to safety hazards such as traffic accidents and hinder emergency access.

The images and accompanying concerns were shared by the Ikorodu Ambassadors social group, urging stakeholders to take action under the hashtags #ProudlyIkoroduAmbassadors and #OurIkoroduOurResponsibility.

Residents are now calling on local authorities to implement stricter traffic and commercial regulations to restore order and ensure public safety at the roundabout.
