The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kosofe Local Government has endorsed Abayomi Elugbindin as its consensus candidate for the councillorship seat of Ward B ahead of the forthcoming local government elections.

Elugbindin, a longstanding party loyalist, emerged as the preferred candidate following a meeting of prominent APC leaders in the area. According to party sources, several aspirants stepped down in his favour, affirming the party’s decision to field him as the consensus flagbearer.

Expressing gratitude after his emergence, Elugbindin thanked the party leadership for the confidence reposed in him. “I feel so happy that the leaders deemed me fit and capable for this position. I’ve served the party diligently and paid my dues. This recognition means a lot to me,” he said.

He clarified that he remains firmly in the race when asked if he might step aside again. “Nothing of such. I am still very much in the race. The leaders unanimously chose me as the candidate,” he told KosofePost.

This development marks a significant moment for Elugbindin, who revealed that he had previously stepped down in past elections out of respect for party supremacy. “This is the first time I have been chosen to represent the ward after aspiring for the position multiple times,” he noted.

He went on to acknowledge key party figures for their support, including Otunba Bushira Alebiosu, Omooba Olumuyiwa Sosanya, Otunba Dayo Bush, Hon. Sanni Ganiu Okanlawon (Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government), Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, and respected leaders from Oworonshoki such as Deacon Yinka Oyenubi, Pa. S.O. Omowo, Engr. Taiwo, Hon. Olalekan Sulaiman, Hon. Awotubo, Hon. Kehinde Saliu, among others.

Elugbindin’s emergence is seen as a strategic move by the APC to consolidate support in the ward and strengthen its chances in the upcoming council polls.
