The Lagos State Government has announced plans to conduct a statewide National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) campaign in May 2025 as part of ongoing efforts to eradicate polio.
In collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and development partners, the campaign will run from Saturday, May 3 to Wednesday, May 7, 2025. It will feature a house-to-house oral polio vaccination exercise targeting all children aged 0 to 5 years.
According to a statement signed by Dr. Ibrahim A. Mustafa, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, vaccination teams will administer two drops of the oral polio vaccine to eligible children, regardless of their previous vaccination history.
The campaign will span all 376 wards across Lagos State. Vaccinators will visit homes, schools, places of worship, markets, hospitals, playgrounds, and other public areas where children may be found. The daily exercise is scheduled to commence at 8:00 a.m. each day.
The state government is urging community leaders and stakeholders to support the initiative by raising awareness and facilitating access to households to ensure no child is left behind.
Members of the public seeking further information can contact the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board at 5, Taylor Drive, Off Edmund Crescent, Yaba, Lagos, or via email at lsphcboard2010@yahoo.com.
The initiative reflects the state government’s continued commitment to strengthening public health systems and preventing the resurgence of vaccine-preventable diseases.
