By Bilesanmi Abayomi
In a dramatic turn of events, Ogungbo Abiodun, popularly known as Black Diamond and one of the leading aspirants for the Agboyi-Ketu LCDA Chairmanship under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has officially withdrawn from the race. Sources say his decision comes after intense consultations, persuasion, and mounting pressure from within the party.
Reliable insider reports suggest that ahead of the APC’s nomination submission deadline April 26, Ogungbo — a seasoned administrator — was promised a potential appointment as a Permanent Secretary in recognition of his loyalty to the party’s leadership.

With his exit, the political landscape within Agboyi-Ketu shifts, as Black Diamond now finds himself at a critical crossroads, caught among three strong contenders: his close ally, Councilor Saheed Omogbolahan Elewedu, Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, and his trusted political protégé; Hon. Adetola Abubakar, and Secretary to the Local Government and a longtime friend; Hon. Yomi Ganiu.
Where Ogungbo’s political allegiance will ultimately fall remains to be seen, as the race for Agboyi-Ketu’s top seat intensifies.
