Remo Stars Football Club have been crowned champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), clinching their first-ever league title in a historic achievement that coincided with the 59th birthday of the club’s chairman, Kunle Soname.

The club’s triumph marks a significant milestone, highlighting years of strategic leadership and investment under Soname’s stewardship. From humble beginnings as a regional side, Remo Stars have risen to become a dominant force in Nigerian football, winning hearts with their dynamic style of play and consistent performances throughout the season.

Speaking during the post-match celebrations, Soname described the victory as the realisation of a long-held dream. “This championship is a dream come true for our club and our community,” he said. “It is the culmination of years of hard work, strategic planning, and an unwavering belief in the potential of our players and our organization.”

The club’s CEO, Adedoyin Ogungbefun, also lauded Soname’s commitment, attributing the team’s success to his visionary leadership. “Kunle Soname’s unwavering commitment to excellence and his relentless pursuit of success have been the driving forces behind Remo Stars’ rise to the top,” Ogungbefun said.

Similarly, the General Welfare Officer of Remo Stars, Afolabi Kazeem, praised the chairman’s investment and passion for sports, noting that it had propelled the club to its historic achievement. He described Soname as a sports enthusiast and philanthropist whose contributions have had a transformative impact.

The celebrations, which attracted dignitaries from across the political, business, and sporting sectors, turned Sagamu into a carnival as residents poured into the streets to rejoice. The club’s victory not only elevated their profile but also reignited hope and pride within the local community.

With their NPFL success, Remo Stars are now set to represent Nigeria in continental competitions, as the club and its leadership continue their pursuit of further glory both at home and abroad.
