Agboyi-Ketu APC Chairmanship Aspirant Durosimi Denies Withdrawal Rumour

By Bilesanmi Abayomi

A leading aspirant in the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship primaries for Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Babatunde Muyideen Durosimi (BMD), has denied reports suggesting that he has withdrawn from the race.

In a statement released on Saturday by the BMD Media Team, Durosimi described the rumours as “false and misleading,” alleging that they were engineered by unnamed individuals seeking to cause confusion within the party and disrupt the momentum of his campaign.

“We wish to categorically state that there is no truth whatsoever to this claim. It is a deliberate attempt to mislead our supporters, create confusion within the party, and derail the progressive momentum of the BMD campaign,” the statement read.

The campaign team affirmed that Durosimi had successfully undergone the party’s screening exercise and had been officially cleared to contest in the primaries scheduled for Saturday, May 10, 2025.

Durosimi reiterated his commitment to the democratic process and to delivering purposeful leadership to residents of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA. The statement also emphasized that unless a formal directive is issued by the local APC leadership—after due consultation with all aspirants—Durosimi remains in the race.

“BMD is in the race to win it. He remains committed to the vision of a greater Agboyi-Ketu and is poised to emerge victorious in the primary election, en route to becoming the next Executive Chairman — succeeding Mayor Dele Oshinowo in service, vision, and delivery,” the campaign added.

Supporters and party faithful were urged to disregard what the statement called “unfounded rumours” and remain focused on the goal ahead.

The APC chairmanship primaries in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA will determine the party’s flagbearer for the local council elections scheduled for July 12, 2025.
