The Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Opeyemi Ahmed Azeez, has raised the alarm over the hacking of his Facebook account by unknown individuals he described as political detractors.

In a video statement released to the public, Azeez disowned a viral Facebook comment allegedly made in his name, warning that any controversial or politically sensitive posts attributed to him should be disregarded.

“I saw a particular news story, an unjust news, and it was shocking to me. I could not even digest it. The claim that I made a certain comment on a Facebook post is false. This story did not emanate from me — it is the work of hackers,” he stated.

Azeez, who serves as media aide to Mayor Dele Oshinowo, said it was disturbing that anyone would attempt to use his identity to cast aspersions on his principal. He described the act as a deliberate move to tarnish his image and cause division within the political space.

“I’ve never made such remarks. I’ve never commented on any post on Facebook. I am a grounded politician and understand the responsibilities of my office. I will never make such careless comments,” he said.

He assured that security agencies would be involved in investigating the cyber breach, vowing to take necessary legal steps against the perpetrators.

Azeez also appealed to the public to disregard the viral post and refrain from engaging with content published on his compromised Facebook account. He noted that he had not been active on the platform for a while and primarily uses TikTok for online engagement.

“What pains me the most is that someone could hack my account and try to use it to discredit me and my boss. I urge everyone reading this to help share the message so that the truth reaches every corner of Lagos and Nigeria,” he added.

He further advised public figures, especially politicians, to secure their social media accounts and remain vigilant in the digital space, warning that cyber-attacks by political opponents could become more frequent as elections approach.
