As preparations intensify ahead of the July 12 Local Government Elections in Lagos State, KosofePost, a prominent digital newspaper, has unveiled a special initiative to support political aspirants with one month of free publicity and awareness campaigns.

The initiative was announced on Sunday by the UK-based Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of KosofePost, Mr. Bilesanmi Abayomi, popularly known as KOKO. He disclosed that the offer would run from May 18 to June 7 and is open to candidates from all political parties contesting across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.

Speaking on the role of digital platforms in contemporary electioneering, Abayomi noted that online media has become a powerful tool for political engagement. “Online platforms offer cost-effective campaigning, targeted advertising, real-time engagement, and even the potential for viral movements. These tools significantly shape public opinion and influence traditional media coverage,” he said.

While emphasizing the reach and impact of digital campaigns, he also acknowledged existing gaps in internet access and digital literacy. “Over-reliance on online strategies could exclude voters who lack internet access or the skills to engage digitally. That’s why traditional outreach methods are still crucial for inclusive representation,” he added.

Interested candidates are encouraged to register through the ‘July 12 Election’ section on the KosofePost website to benefit from the free publicity.

This move by KosofePost is aimed at enhancing political visibility and encouraging broader civic participation, particularly for grassroots candidates in Lagos’ forthcoming council elections.
