Hon. Sunday Adewale Omofojoye, the serving Councilor representing Ward A in Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State, has died.
The lawmaker reportedly passed away on Saturday evening after being admitted to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). While the exact cause of death has not been officially confirmed, sources say he had been receiving medical care prior to his demise.
Until his passing, Hon. Omofojoye was nearing the end of his second term in office, having served for almost eight years. His current tenure was expected to conclude in July.
News of his death has thrown the Oworonshoki community, which he represented, into mourning. Residents, political associates, and community members have taken to social media and local platforms to express their condolences and remember his service.
“Good night, Councilor Omofojoye representing Ward A, Oworonshoki,” one mourner wrote, while many others offered prayers for his peaceful rest and for strength for his family. “May Almighty Allah accept his return and grant him Aljanat Firdaus,” another tribute read.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been released by the Kosofe Local Government Council or the Lagos State government regarding the circumstances surrounding his death.
Funeral arrangements and further details are expected to be made public in the coming days.
