As part of activities marking the Eid al-Adha celebration, the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. Moyosore Ogunlewe, extended a festive gesture to members of the media community by distributing cash tokens to journalists, including representatives of Kosofe Post.
The Chairman’s gesture was aimed at appreciating the media’s pivotal role in driving public awareness and strengthening community engagement.
This act of goodwill follows the council’s continued implementation of its Kosofe Food Bank Initiative, a flagship social intervention programme. In recent weeks, over 5,000 residents have benefitted from food palliatives under the scheme.
The council’s second and third distributions in the latest round—held on May 23 and May 29—targeted civil servants and 500 widows respectively, reflecting a focused approach to reaching vulnerable groups.
The recent activities mark the 10th, 11th, and 12th phases of the food programme, which has become a major pillar of the Ogunlewe administration’s strategy to combat hunger and boost food security.
Residents and stakeholders have lauded the council boss for his consistent grassroots outreach and commitment to welfare initiatives, especially amid rising economic challenges.
