The Egbe Obayori Okunrin emerged as a major highlight of the 2025 Ojude Oba Festival, delivering a breathtaking cultural display that reaffirmed its stature as a leading custodian of Ijebu heritage and unity.
Led by Giwa Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, the group made a grand entrance, parading through the festival grounds with a well-coordinated procession of 120 members—including 35 members who flew in from the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. Their display drew admiration from onlookers, showcasing a blend of cultural pride, elegance, and organisational unity.
A key moment in the celebration was the ceremonial reception of Otunba (Hon.) Ademorin Kuye, the Baba Egbe of Obayori and the Otunba Ajana of Ijebu, who also serves as a Member of the Federal House of Representatives. He arrived alongside his wife, Chief (Mrs) Sukaina Bashua-Kuye, and was warmly received in a celebration marked by pomp, reverence, and tradition.
The festivities continued at BISROD Heritage Hall, where guests were treated to thrilling performances by fuji artistes X1 De Future and Ayinde Ganiu, who lit up the evening with vibrant music and dance.
In a symbolic gesture recognising service and loyalty, Giwa Anomo conferred chieftaincy titles on two notable members of the Egbe:
Yori Omotayo Adekoya was honoured as Jagunmolu Egbe
Yori Taiwo Tugbobo received the title of Arogundade Egbe
This year’s outing further cemented Egbe Obayori Asiwaju’s reputation as a unifying force and cultural beacon in Ijebuland. Their participation at Ojude Oba not only celebrated tradition but also underscored the enduring value of community, identity, and intergenerational connection among the Ijebu people.
