The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released the final list of its chairmanship candidates for the July 12 local government elections in Lagos State, confirming nominees for all 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

The much-anticipated announcement, which lays to rest speculations surrounding last-minute substitutions and internal party disagreements, was made public on Tuesday through the party’s state secretariat.

One of the most closely watched outcomes is the retention of Hon. Samiat Bada as the party’s candidate for Ikosi-Isheri LCDA. Her inclusion ends weeks of speculation and petitions from a coalition of chairmanship aspirants who had called for her replacement. The APC’s decision signals continued confidence in her leadership despite the controversies trailing her tenure and re-nomination.

Other confirmed candidates on the APC ticket include:

Moyosore Ogunlewe – Kosofe

Adetola Adunni Abubakar – Agboyi-Ketu

Samiat Bada – Ikosi-Isheri

The list features a blend of incumbents and new faces, reflecting the party’s strategy to maintain dominance at the grassroots while managing internal dissent.

With the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) set to oversee the elections, preparations are intensifying as candidates and their campaign teams gear up to mobilize voters across the 57 councils. The July 12 elections are expected to be fiercely contested, especially in areas where internal party wrangling has left factions unsettled.

Political observers note that the APC’s ability to manage its internal dynamics while maintaining voter confidence at the local level will be key to retaining its stronghold in Lagos politics.
