Fresh controversy has rocked the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) following allegations that Executive Chairman, Mayor Dele Oshinowo, was assaulted by Mr. Ibrahim Oladega, the younger brother of the Olu of Agboyi Kingdom, Oba Monsuru Abimbola Oladega (Akinmasa I).
The incident, which reportedly occurred on Monday at the palace of the monarch, has sparked widespread condemnation across the LCDA, particularly on the KosofePost media platform, as residents, political leaders, and community voices continue to express outrage.
Sources within the council allege that the altercation was unprovoked and occurred during a scheduled visit to the palace as part of a pre-election consultation with traditional leaders. Mayor Oshinowo was reportedly accompanied by other stakeholders and party officials when the incident took place.
This is not the first time Mr. Ibrahim Oladega has been at the center of controversy involving the council. He had previously clashed with the chairman during a working tour of the Agboyi-Ketu Link Bridge and was linked to a past dispute over the donation of a transformer to the community.
Critics have accused him of exploiting the palace’s influence to disrupt local governance and engage in what some described as “political thuggery.”
Reacting to the latest development, a political stakeholder, Omoba Awofeso Rasheed, questioned the recurring tensions between the duo. “Why this unending imbroglio between the two at all times?” he queried.
In a more scathing comment, Oloye Salami Oluwaseun condemned the alleged assault, describing it as “barbaric, satanic, and shameful.” He further accused the monarch of enabling his brother’s actions by shielding him under the royal stool.
“Kabiyesi himself has proven to be indulging his younger brother in various nefarious acts, hiding under royalty to commit political nuisance and assaults unchecked,” Salami stated.
He called on Mr. Oladega to issue a public apology to the chairman within 48 hours or face legal action, describing Mayor Oshinowo as “a respected chairman and a pride of our great party whose achievements in governance are laudable.”
Also lending his voice, Comrade Amos Ojajuni urged for restraint and accountability, stressing the need for mutual respect between traditional institutions and elected public officials.
“If Ibrahim Oladega’s actions indeed caused harm or offense, it’s essential he takes responsibility. Acknowledging the efforts of leaders like Mayor Oshinowo will foster harmony between the council and the palace,” he said.
As of press time, neither the Olu of Agboyi nor Mr. Ibrahim Oladega has issued a statement responding to the allegations.
The development has renewed calls for clear boundaries between traditional leadership and local government operations, with observers urging both parties to prioritize peace, dialogue, and respect for democratic institutions.
