Primrose Today State Chairman Resigns from PDP, Cites Undemocratic Practices’
By Bilesanmi Abayomi
In a major shake-up within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Babatunde Olanrewaju FAIPH, popularly known as Bob Tarner, has formally resigned his party membership from Ward A4, Epe Local Government.
In a resignation letter dated July 1, 2025, and addressed to key party stakeholders, The fromer Lagos East Senatorial District Aspirant, Olanrewaju cited the erosion of democratic values within the PDP as his reason for exiting the party. He expressed deep concern over what he described as the dominance of “undemocratic virtues” that have taken root in the party’s internal processes.
“This decision owes largely to the encumbrances of undemocratic virtues that have plagued the party,” the letter read in part. “Kindly accept this unreserved principled desire as I move forward for the betterment of our people.”
While he did not reveal his next political move, Olanrewaju—who also doubles as the State Chairman of the sociopolitical group Primrose Today—is a well-known grassroots mobiliser with influence in Epe and the larger Lagos East Senatorial District. His resignation is expected to send ripples through the local political landscape.
Political observers say his exit could trigger further defections, especially among party loyalists dissatisfied with the PDP’s direction in the build-up to the 2026 general elections. It also fuels speculation that a realignment of political forces may be underway in Lagos East.
The PDP in Lagos is yet to officially respond to Olanrewaju’s departure, but sources within the party say it reflects growing internal discontent as factions jostle for dominance ahead of critical electoral contests.
Olanrewaju’s resignation adds to a string of high-profile exits and internal disputes that have plagued the PDP in recent years, casting a shadow over its ability to mount a credible challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
With general elections less than a year away, all eyes remain on Olanrewaju’s next political destination—and whether it will signal a broader shift within the Epe political axis.

I have joined ADC on July 2nd 2025.
My political landscape goes beyond Lagos east but all over Lagos state as Primrose State Chairman and National Coordinator of Nigerian Youths for Atiku – NYFA.
I’ve directed all NYFA members all over Nigeria to join ADC.
