The First Executive Secretary of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr. Kazeem Afolabi, has expressed concerns over the late arrival of officials and voting materials from the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) during Saturday’s local government election.

Speaking to journalists at the Ikosi-Isheri Situation Room in Lagos, Afolabi disclosed that in several polling units, LASIEC officials did not arrive until around 9:00 a.m., a delay he described as less than ideal.

“Even though the officials came late to some units, all the polling units I visited conducted the election properly. Where voting was not yet completed, provisions were made for voters to still cast their ballots,” he noted.

Despite the initial delays, Afolabi commended the peaceful conduct of the election across Ikosi-Isheri, noting that areas like Magodo and Mile 12 remained calm throughout the process.

He expressed confidence in the electoral outcome, stating that the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate and all seven councillorship candidates were on course for a sweeping victory.

“By the grace of God, we are almost at the finish line. Once final results are in, it will be total victory for the APC in Ikosi-Isheri — both the chairmanship and all councillorship positions,” he said.

Afolabi extended his appreciation to the electorate for their support and assured residents that the APC-led council would continue to prioritize infrastructure development and economic empowerment initiatives.

“Our promise remains the same — to keep developing Ikosi-Isheri structurally and economically. We will not let our people down,” he concluded.

Voting has now concluded in most polling units, with results expected shortly.
