In a significant political development within Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State, Mr. Jimoh Waheed, a long-time member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has announced his resignation from the party.
In a letter dated July 22, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of PDP Mende/Anthony (Ward C), Waheed expressed appreciation to party members for their support and cooperation over the past 18 years. He acknowledged their collective commitment during his political journey.
“This has become necessary for personal reasons to avoid any further embarrassment in my career,” he wrote, stating the need for a clean break from the PDP.
Waheed further noted his intention to align with “well-meaning progressive Nigerians” on a mission to rescue and reposition the country.
The letter, personally signed, concluded with a note of gratitude: “Thank you all for the time we spent together.”
His resignation adds to a growing wave of defections from the PDP in Lagos State, signaling shifting political allegiances ahead of the 2027 general elections.
