Shuiabu Babatunde, popularly known as Optimistic and Personal Assistant and Media Aide to former 2025 Kosofe Federal Constituency aspirant Hon. Abiodun Awokoya (aka Abbey Cheche), has confirmed that his principal intends to run again in the 2027 elections.

Speaking on KosofePost’s live streaming programme, Chill, Chat and Fun Session, on Sunday, Shuiabu stated unequivocally:

“Surely, we are running again in 2027.”

Although Abbey Cheche has yet to make an official announcement, Shuiabu’s remarks strongly indicate preparations are underway for another bid.

When asked to assess the performance of the current Federal lawmaker, Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, Shuiabu was critical, noting there was “nothing substantial” to report beyond “periodic refilling of gas” for residents. He contrasted this with representatives from other constituencies who have reportedly facilitated more people-oriented projects.

He urged Hon. Ogbara, as she approaches the end of her first term, to leverage the Zonal Intervention Programme to address pressing community needs such as health centres, road infrastructure, and water supply.

Regarding Abbey Cheche’s personal contributions despite holding no public office, Shuiabu revealed that his principal had spent millions of naira assisting residents, as evidenced by his bank statements. However, he acknowledged public criticism that these individual handouts—similar to the current lawmaker’s approach—might be better invested in sustainable, large-scale community projects.

“If such funds were channelled into the facilitation or construction of tangible projects, they would have been completed by now,” Shuiabu said. He added that some question why an individual outside government should shoulder responsibilities meant for elected officials.
