The Local Government Election Tribunal in Lagos State has commenced sitting to hear petitions arising from the July 12 local government polls held across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

The proceedings, according to KosofePost source, are taking place at the High Court, Race Course. One of the petitioners is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Shogbesan Olaoluwa. Details of his petition have, however, not been made public.

The matter came up on Tuesday but was adjourned to Monday, August 18, 2025.

In a related development, a civil society organisation—yet to be identified—has dragged the Lagos State Government, the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), and Samiat Bada to court. Represented by lawyers from the Femi Falana Chambers, the group is alleging violations of the Local Government Administrative Law 2025, signed into law by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on May 7, 2025.

The suit, assigned to Justice M.A. Lawal, has been stalled by the ongoing judicial vacation. Sources said the registrar attached to Justice Lawal is on leave and is expected to resume at the end of August, leaving the full details of the case unclear for now.
