A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kosofe Local Government, Engr. Afariogun Adekunle Richard, has debunked rumours linking him to the position of Secretary to the Local Government (SLG).
In a statement to party leaders and members, Afariogun declared that he has no interest in occupying the SLG seat “either now or in the future.” He explained that the immediate past SLG, who hails from his ward, is seeking reappointment, and that his own political ambitions have in the past been directed toward the chairmanship of the local government and a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
“I am a man of conscience and very high integrity,” he said, adding that he has neither lobbied any of the two eminent GAC leaders nor approached any individual for the position.
The APC stalwart also warned against defamation and political mudslinging, cautioning those involved to desist or risk “the full wrath of God.”
Afariogun, who is from Ward F, Ojota, recounted his political history, including past clashes with late political leaders Baba Sunmola and Senator Bayo Oshinowo, which he said were driven by his commitment to political reform.
