Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde Okanlawon, popularly known as Okla, has reassured residents of Kosofe Constituency 01 that the long-delayed Oworonshoki Fire Station project will be completed.

In a statement issued on Saturday and made available to KosofePost, Okanlawon emphasized that the fire station remains a top priority in his social contract with constituents.

The lawmaker recalled lobbying the Ministry of Special Duties to secure approval for the project, noting that the late Oba of Oworonshoki, Kabiyesi Oloruntoyin Saliu (Elebo I), had generously allocated land for the facility.

“Contract was awarded by the ministry and the contractor moved to site. Expectedly, the project was to be delivered within 12 months but continued to drag until I summoned the leadership of the Ministry for questioning,” he said.

According to him, the delay was caused by economic challenges, including inflation and rising costs, which necessitated a contract variation. He, however, disclosed that both the Ministry and the contractor have since reached an agreement to ensure the project’s completion.

Okanlawon urged residents to remain patient, dismissing negative remarks attributed to one of his aides, and stressing that the delay was not connected to the Lagos State House of Assembly.

“As your representative, I cherish being attached to success. It is a credit to me and an integral part of my success story if such a project is delivered and commissioned for use. I enjoin my constituents to keep hope alive. Be rest assured, we will not rest on our oars until the project is delivered. Joy is coming,” he concluded.
